the woman I am becoming.

@iamlizzydearShe is calm in chaotic situations. She is still, and focused when the world seems to be whirling around her. She thinks ahead and anticipates the needs of her family. She makes even the little experiences exciting, like adventures to her children. She graciously creates delicious meals for her family, being sure they get the best nourishment. She makes sure there are plenty of clean clothes folded and ready for the kids and her husband, being sure her husband’s shirts are ironed the way he likes them. She speaks gently, she speaks kindly. She patiently explains confusing situations to the young children in response to their whining and tears. She explains possible consequences to the older children, giving them powerful choices, opportunities to learn. She cares for herself, making sure she is healthy and strong, so that she can be the best version of herself for her family. Her husband trusts her, confident in her, relying on her support and careful thought. She asks questions, easy and tough ones, always learning and challenging those around her. She works hard at her craft. She practices her skills, insuring that her products are worth the money she sells them for. She makes thoughtful investments, believing they will be profitable. She carries herself with dignity, treating others with respect, speaking with wisdom and encouragement. She believes the best in her friends, her family, and those she works with. She searches for the beauty in any situation or life. She laughs, wild and freely. She laughs with her friends and her family, but even more so with strangers. She befriends the forgotten, and cares deeply for all living things. She turns her back to her fears, knowing they only have power if she gives it to them. She takes one step at a time, understanding all the while, this life is a process.

She is not perfect, but she is covered in grace. She makes mistakes, but always makes an effort to learn from them. She is human, praising the Lord all the while, thankful to be created in the image of her heavenly creator. She is confident in this role she has been given, and those that surround her see the power she walks in, through her every day. Strong and brave, beautiful and kind, patient and generous.

And long after she is gone, her children and her grandchildren will remember the way she made them feel like royalty. The way she made them feel worth while, worth far more than rubies and gold. They will remember the silly things she said, and the adventures she inspired. They will remember her creativity and inspiration, to live bold and free. They will laugh at her memory, and will have endless stories to share with one another. There may be tears, sad she is no longer with them, but they will move forward, knowing full and well that she believed in them to create their own legacy, more powerful than hers.
